Got a Nail in Your Tire? Tire Repair in Athens

Picked up a nail, screw, or other puncture? If the damage is in the tread (not the sidewall), we can plug or patch the tire at your location — faster and cheaper than replacing it.

Is Your Tire Repairable?

Most tread punctures from common road debris are repairable. The general rules for safe repair:

  • Location: Must be in the tread (the flat, contact-patch area). Sidewall and shoulder damage cannot be safely repaired.
  • Size: Puncture hole no larger than about ¼" (6mm).
  • Tire condition: Tread depth not below 2/32", no prior plug failures in the same area, no signs of internal damage from being driven flat.

If it's repairable, we plug and patch. If it's not, we'll tell you straight up and offer mobile tire replacement instead — no upsell games.

How Tire Repair Works

  1. Call (706) 810-6046 and describe the damage. Photo of the puncture helps.
  2. We dispatch a tech with patches, plugs, and the right gear.
  3. We pull the wheel, dismount the tire, inspect the inside, install a combination plug-patch repair, remount, balance, and torque it on.
  4. You're rolling again — with a proper repair that's good for the life of the tread.

Plug vs. Plug-Patch — Why It Matters

A plug-only repair (the kind you can do yourself at home) is faster but seals only the outer rubber. A proper plug-patch repair (a combination plug-patch installed from the inside of the tire) seals the inner liner too, preventing slow leaks and air migration through the carcass. We do plug-patch repairs — the right way, every time.

When to Skip Repair and Replace Instead

  • Sidewall or shoulder damage
  • You drove on it flat for any meaningful distance — the carcass is likely damaged
  • Multiple punctures close together
  • Tread depth is already low (under 2/32")
  • Tire is old (over 6 years) or shows dry-rot cracking

In any of these cases, see our mobile tire replacement service.

Air Delivery & Inflation

If you just need air — not a repair — we can come fill up a low tire on the spot. Useful when your spare is also flat, or after a slow leak.
